What Happens When You Contact Us:
When you contact Women’s Aid Orkney:
We check that you are safe
We arrange an appointment with a trained support practitioner
You are listened to and supported without judgement
All information is confidential unless there is a safety concern.
How We Support You:
We offer emotional and practical support, tailored to what you want and need including:
A safe space to talk in confidence
Help to stay safe
Support attending appointments
Guidance around legal processes
Advocacy with other services
Housing and refuge support
We work alongside you so you can live the safer life you choose.
Your First Appointment
At your first appointment, your support practitioner will:
Listen to what you want to share
Work with you to create an individualised plan
Offer support in person, online, or by phone
You are in control of what happens next.
Refuge & Emergency Accommodation
If you feel you need to leave your current situation, we can support you with access to our refuge or emergency accommodation.
We have 3 secure properties in Orkney, along with additional resources should you need them.
Support for Children & Young People
We understand that domestic abuse affects children and young people too.
Our especially trained practitioners work with boys and girls aged 3- 18, offering trauma-informed support for individuals or sibling groups.
We support you whether you choose to stay in your relationship or leave — the choice is yours.
